What is BreakoutEDU?

BreakoutEDU takes the appeal of the "escape room," a recreational team sport in which a group of people use their wits to break out of a locked room, and turns it inside out. Instead of a locked room, teams must figure out how to get inside a tightly locked box using their prior knowledge, investigation and research skills.

Chrome Extensions and Apps

What Can Apps & Extensions Do for You?

Have you ever worked with a digital tool only to wish that it could do more? This session will help participants access some of the more hidden features of Chrome and Google Apps. Participants will learn how to increase the functionality of certain Google Apps using Add-ons, how to add features and utilities to their Chrome browser through Extensions, and how to find and install additional Chrome Apps to use with students. By the end of the session, teachers will be able to maximize their Google experience using these extras.

Google Lit Trips

Travel with Literature

Learn the basics of creating a virtual field trip of what students are reading using the Google Lit Trips concept and Google Maps. To motivate and enrich student reading, collect web resources and images about a title and place them geographically using the power of Google Maps, instead of the usual Google Earth application which may not be available at many schools. Discussion will include choosing appropriate titles, selecting resources to enrich the reading experience. creating a map of important aspects of the story, finding other Lit Trips, and using the Lit Trips in class.This session is appropriate for teachers at all technology levels.
