We'd like to wish all our families a restful and safe Easter break. Hopefully, as the weather and ground improves we will be able to get our children outside more and experiencing some of their learning in this way.
Our children will also be moving onto their next strands of study after Easter, as well as preparing themselves in their final terms for their transition to their future years. At the beginning of May, our Year 6 children will also be undertaking their SATS this year and we want to wish them the very best of luck in their efforts. They have worked really hard this year to develop their skills and knowledge in all areas, and we know they will try their very best!
Following several fixtures from autumn to early spring, Rawmarsh Sandhill Primary School have been successful in lifting the Gordon Swann Cup after qualifying for this cup final.
Having been finalists last year, boys and girls from years 4 to 6 worked brilliantly as a team in the final to beat Rawmarsh Thorogate, 1-0.
Rhia Moorcroft (Y6), Caden Whittaker (Y5, Captain) and Emilie Edwards (Y6) , who took part commented: ‘We played really well as team, and we passed and moved the ball well. We worked really hard in defence. Everyone put in 110%.’
The silverware is the school’s first major football trophy in 30 years, and the children and staff who supported them, should be extremely proud of their achievements.
Their development as team players and footballers over their time in Wickersley Partnership Trust has been fantastic to see.
We all hope they continue to enjoy and play competitive sports!
We are pleased that our attendance since returning from the Christmas break has been improving. We'd like to encourage all parents and children to attend as well as possible. Remember our attendance shop and prize draw will take place every half-term and we have some exciting ideas for new awards this time!
Children in Class 8 and Class 9 have recently taken part in the TEKK challenge, where they developed and used a range of skills to produce a team, a uniform, a logo and develop a product. This year's design challenge was a park play frame, and the children also had to think about how they would present their products for a team of judges at HSBC in Sheffield.
One of our teams was able to attend HSBC and present their product and supporting material to a panel of judges, as well as make a presentation to them and other children from our primary schools.
They showed amazing confidence and resilience in presenting and talking about their work - well done to them and all the children in Classes 8 and 9 who participated.
93.86 Let's look to improve even more!)
Highest attendance: Mrs Breedon and Mrs May's class with 96%!
Please ensure your child is as punctual as possible in attending school, as key learning begins straight away and we do not want any child to miss out on this!
