The purpose of this website is to raise awareness of child labor at Hershey's. My goal is to inform the public about the issue and pressure Hershey's to improve its practices. This website aims to hold Hershey's accountable for its supply chain, particularly in cocoa production, and to encourage the company to take more comprehensive action to end child labor.
To hold Hershey accountable: This Website aims to shine a light on child labor in Hershey's supply chain, especially given that Hershey's have been accused of not doing enough to stop it.
To pressure for change: By raising awareness, this site aims to pressure consumers and the company itself to demand change and better practices in the cocoa industry.
To provide information: This site will serve as a source of information about the scale of the problem and the specific ways in which companies like Hershey's are involved through their sourcing and labor practices.
This Websites discusses child labor in the Hershey cocoa supply chain. Meanwhile, most other websites are more general and aren't focusing specifically on Hershey. I believe that websites will be more effective if they zoom in on a big issue. So, for my 8th grade capstone project I've decided to experiment if my prediction is correct. I've organized a focus group to look at my website and try to convince this select group of people to not buy Hershey's chocolate for Halloween. After looking at my website, I will email each person in my focus group asking them a series of questions one of which is, "did my website convince you to not buy Hershey's chocolate for Halloween."
