Welcome to the 2024 Summer Challenge Page!
Here, you'll find info about summer book checkout and the summer challenge-- to keep you reading, writing, creating, and thinking all summer long! Let's beat that summer slide and start next school year off strong!
This year, our Summer Reading Challenge will be to complete as many tasks from our reading choice board as possible! The choice board will consist of mini-challenges like:
reread a favorite book
take a photo reading in an interesting place (the top of a mountain, in front of the Grand Canyon, at the Eiffel Tower!
read a book in a certain literary genre
read a picture book
etc.
Do as many choice board tasks as you want! There will be recognition for students who complete any of the challenges... the more challenges, the more recognition. Mainly, summer readers can be initiated into our RAS Reading Hall of Fame, and earn gold stars on their Hall of Fame photo. And don't forget that reading is the real treat! :)

Any returning student with a library account in good standing is able to check out up to 10 books for the summer, with parent permission. We sent home permission forms, but if you still need one, find it here or reach out to library@ras.ma. Each family may ALSO check out an additional 20 books!
A special note for those leaving or incoming to RAS:
You are also welcome to complete the summer reading challenge!
If you are leaving, we'd love to hear from you in August! Upload your photos or send a message to library@ras.ma.
If you are coming to RAS soon, complete any of the challenges that sound fun and let us know what you read when you get here! Welcome!
Please submit all your photos in one upload, if you can! If you can't get the upload to work, no worries! You can email the photos to library@ras.ma.
I already did some of these things... can I just check them off now? That's not as much fun! Even if you've done one of these challenges in the past, take the time to do it again!
If you are in PK-3rd grade, to access SORA, you need to use your student ID! (The password is listed on the document linked under "Need to find Digital Books?" above.) 4th grade and up can sign in with your RAS Google Account!
