I’m a teacher with 21 years of experience, having taught Digital Literacy, English Language Arts, World Geography, and US History. I’m passionate about using technology in my lessons to make learning more relevant for my students. I also enjoy discovering ways technology can simplify my planning and teaching.
I’d love to chat with you about how you can use technology more efficiently in your classroom—let’s schedule some time to connect!

How it Works: When creating assignments, quizzes, questions, or materials, teachers can now search for and tag specific academic standards and skills.
AI-Assisted Tagging: Teachers don't even have to hunt for the code. Google’s built-in AI can analyze the text of the assignment or course materials and automatically suggest the relevant standards to tag.
Standards-Based Rubrics: Teachers can directly align rubric criteria to these standards, making grading incredibly transparent.
Data-Driven Analytics: Once tagged coursework is graded, it automatically populates a new analytics dashboard. Teachers can see a visual breakdown of student performance and immediately pinpoint instructional gaps against specific state standards for the whole class or individual students.
Transparency for Families: Tagged goals are visible to both students and guardians, so they see exactly how a daily assignment relates to required learning milestones.
Because Google has integrated NotebookLM as a core Workspace for Education service, it adheres to strict data privacy guidelines. Student data is never used to train the public AI models, making it safe and secure for schools.
NotebookLM allows students to interact with complex class materials at their own pace, tailored to their specific learning styles.
Interactive Quizzes & Flashcard Tracking: Through the built-in Studio Panel, students can instantly generate custom flashcards and multiple-choice quizzes from their study materials. It includes a "Hint" button for guided learning, and features progress tracking to flag concepts the student frequently misses for targeted spaced repetition.
Grounded Chat with Inline Citations: Students can ask the chat box anything ("Explain this paragraph like I am 10," or "Give me an analog example of this concept"). Crucially, every answer provides a clickable citation back to the exact sentence in the source text, training students in media literacy and verification.
For a classroom teacher, NotebookLM acts as an instant content-remixer. You can upload your raw curriculum materials and output high-quality study resources in seconds.
The Audio Overview (The "Podcast" Feature): With one click, NotebookLM generates a highly engaging, two-host, conversational audio discussion summarizing your uploaded documents. It sounds like a professional podcast and supports up to 80 languages—perfect for auditory learners or dual-language programs.
The Report Generator: Teachers can generate structured "Studio Reports" from their lesson materials with zero prompt engineering required:
Study Guides: Complete with outlines, essay questions, and key glossaries.
FAQs: Predicts and answers the exact questions students are most likely to ask about the unit.
Timelines: Automatically extracts dates and chronological events from historical text or literature.
Instant Visuals (Slides & Infographics): Teachers can transform text heavy notes into editable Google Slide decks or customized infographics directly from the workspace to use during review days.
RCPS decided at the end of the 2023-2024 school year NOT to renew their license with IXL. Therefore, the county no longer has access to IXL.
RCPS has decided to embrace AI and help both students and teachers learn to use AI ethically. There are many AI sites online that are VERY useful for teachers who feel planning time has become limited. If you would like assistance implementing the use of AI for planning, schedule a meeting with me on the calendar at the bottom of the page.
