I am a support specialist for RCES and RCHS. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology with a minor in Sociology from Radford University. I also have a Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology from Radford University. Prior to joining the RCPS family, I worked as an Employee Assistance Program counselor, a supervisor to a staff of counselors as well as a director of provider relations. I came to RCPS as the contracted therapeutic day treatment provider and then joined the staff of RCPS as one of the two support specialists for the 22-23 school year. I grew up in Northern Virginia. I enjoy spending time with my two sons and dog. I am excited to help students with their wellness and empower them to have the opportunities and success throughout their educational experience and beyond.

Lora Waterbury: Support Specialist

Hello Junior Panther Family! I am honored to serve the families of Rappahannock County in my role as Behavior Specialist. I truly believe that "behavior is a language".  There are no "bad" behaviors, just mis-guided choices. I graduated from Concord University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Social Work, later receiving my certificate in grief counseling. I have 27 years of experience in various roles as a Social Worker to include mental health, residential case management and proudly worked with hospice for 15 years providing in-home counseling along with facilitating grief groups for children and adults. My roots are embedded in Grandview, West Virginia which is located just outside of Beckley in southeast WV.  I made Virginia my home in 1992 and happily married to a Rappahannock alumni of RCHS.  I am blessed to be called Mom by my 2 grown sons and my daughter, who is currently entering her Sophomore year at RCHS. I enjoy time with my family, antique shopping, walking, crafting and decorating. I believe the students of RCPS are able to achieve anything they dream and make them a reality.  If I may be of assistance my door is always open.

I have the privilege of being a School Psychologist and member of the Rappahannock school family for more than 25 years! I received my Bachelor’s Degree in both Psychology and Social Work from Eastern Mennonite University. I earned a Master’s Degree in Psychology and Educational Specialist Degree in School Psychology from James Madison University. I served at a large school system in WV prior to coming to Rappahannock. I evaluate children from Pre-K through 12 th grades with the goal of identifying their strengths and challenges, and learning what supports are needed for them to grow and succeed. I care deeply about bullying prevention, social-emotional learning, and building a positive, kind, and accepting school environment for all of our students. I love to travel but also enjoy returning home to my views of the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains.
