Summer and Enrichment Opportunities
Grades: Rising 5–7
A regional Summer Governor’s School program serving gifted middle school students through enrichment experiences in problem-solving, creativity, collaboration, and interdisciplinary learning.
Grade: 10
A statewide STEM enrichment program connected to NASA Wallops Flight Facility. Students participate in online learning experiences and may qualify for a residential summer academy focused on aerospace, engineering, and space science.
The Virginia Aerospace Science and Technology Scholars - Focuses on human spaceflight (Grades 11 and 12)
The Virginia Earth System Science Scholars - Focuses on the Earth's responses to climate changes, weather, and natural hazards (Grades 11 and 12)
Pathways Flight Academies - Explore aviation career opportunities while learning to fly! (Must be 16 by the start of the academy)
Building Leaders for Advancing Science and Technology - exposes students to an exciting range of hands-on STEM learning experiences and gives participants a sense of what life is like on a college campus (Grades 8 and 9)
US Naval Academy Summer STEM - Thinking of a career as a coder, game developer, designer, or robotics engineer? Then start with the experience of a world-class program like the Naval Academy’s Summer STEM Program. (Grades 8-10)

Virginia’s Summer Residential Governor’s Schools provide intensive academic and visual and performing arts programs for highly motivated high school students across the Commonwealth. Programs are hosted on college campuses and include areas such as humanities, mathematics, science, engineering, and the arts.

A regional academic-year Governor’s School specializing in advanced study in mathematics, science, and technology for highly motivated students from participating Northern Virginia school divisions, including RCPS.
Grades: 8–11
A nationally recognized creative writing program affiliated with the University of Virginia that provides intensive workshops, mentorship, and collaborative writing experiences for emerging student writers.
US Navel Academy Summer Seminar - If you are currently in your junior year of high school and considering the Naval Academy as your college of choice, we strongly recommend you consider applying to Summer Seminar. Summer Seminar will introduce you to life at the Academy, where you will experience first-class academic, athletic, and professional training. (Grade 11)
Young Writers Workshop - Participants invent, develop, and revise material using the writer’s most essential tools—language, imagination, and craft. (Grades 8-11)
