Terms and Conditions

These are the full Terms and Conditions for the RAODS '321' Play Writing Competition 2019.

There are three competition categories:

  1. Physical – limited dialogue. Maximum of three performers. To include comedy. Duration 10-20 minutes. Cash prize of £75 for winning entry.
  2. Monologue – up to three monologues in one piece. Performers may be on stage at the same time, but do not interact with each other. This piece to be translated into Italian, with the translation made available to the audience. Can be comedic and/or serious. Theme is being British. Total duration 15-30 minutes. Cash prize of £100 for winning entry.
  3. One act play – maximum of three performers (though performers can be multi-role if required). No set theme, but it is to be borne in mind that this is to be performed to an audience whose first language is not English. Duration between 40 and 60 minutes. Cash prize of £125 for winning entry.

Entrants may enter scripts for any number of categories.

Entrants may submit multiple entries for each category.

All competition entries must be new writing.

Each script must be unpublished.

Each script must not have been performed professionally.

Each script must be the work of the credited writer(s).

Copyright and ownership of scripts remains with the writer(s).

By entering this competition, the writer(s) grant RAODS a license to perform the winning scripts for a period of 12 months from 1st February 2019.

Scripts must be submitted by email to info@plazatheatre.com by 30th November 2018. Please include a postal address and telephone contact details.

RAODS members are not excluded from taking part in the competition.

Each entry will be judged by a panel appointed by RAODS. At least two members of the judging panel will not be RAODS members.

The decision of the judging panel is final.

The winning scripts will be announced on January 31st 2019 via Facebook, Twitter and a press release. The winners will be contacted directly via email.
