Mask Parade

Our annual Masquerade Parade is a time-honored tradition at Randolph School. Each child has been working on their very own mask that represents who they are as an individual as well as many of the important pieces that make up Randolph School. This year’s masks are inspired by Randolph School and Randolph Kids- we have creek masks, Randolph Sun masks, masks inspired by fire, Sunny fish and 3 Sisters Garden masks. Led by Nina, the teachers have been helping the children add layers of complexity to their masks over the last few weeks, building on the skills they’ve been practicing in the studio. For many children, Halloween is an exciting time and we want to celebrate their passion for the season and family traditions. Masquerade Parade is a chance for us to harness those feelings of anticipation to joyfully build community, express creativity and make connections to seasonal change.
When the day of the Masquerade Parade finally arrives, we all gather together in the amphitheater to share our creations. Students magically transform and take on the roll of whatever their mask represents. After sharing some songs and stories together, it is time to parade up the driveway. The excitement is contagious as we walk together up to the front fence, ready to wave and cheer at passerby! We love that our community actively participates in waving back and honking for the children; such a fun experience for all!
