The following plan was created to provide an example of courses typically taken within each of the student's four or five years.
Students meet with the College Liaison each semester prior to registration for advising. In the first three semesters, students receive advising in a group setting. In the second semester of their Sophomore year, students begin individual advising meetings with the College Liaison and/or High School Counselor to plan their courses, review degree plans, check academic progress, etc.
Supplanting Information: Students may supplant a high school course with a college course. This means that the student receives high school and college credit for the course. The student must make a B or better in each college course for it to count as a high school course and be in good academic standing. If a student makes a C or lower as a final grade, the student loses the ability to supplant the next level. The following courses can be supplanted:
English 3 - Student must have a B or better in English 1, English 2, ENG 111 and ENG 112 in order to supplant English 3 - RCC equivalents ENG 231 or 232
English 4 - Student must have a B or better in English 1, English 2, ENG 111, ENG 112, and ENG 231 or ENG 232 in order to supplant English 4 - RCC equivalents ENG 241 or 242
American History 1 - Student must have a B or better in their high school World Civilizations and Civic and Economics courses - RCC equivalent HIS 131
American History 2 - Student must have a B or better in their high school World Civilizations and Civic and Economics courses - RCC equivalent HIS 132
Advanced Functions and Modeling/Precalculus - Student must have a B or better in all prior High School Math courses - RCC equivalents MAT 143, MAT 152, MAT 171 or MAT 271
Randolph Early College High Schools students are given the opportunity to complete an Associate degree in one of the two college transfer areas (Arts or Science) and/or an Associate in Applied Science in addition to their high school diploma. Randolph Community College also offers a variety of diploma and certificate programs that are available to RECHS students.

College Course Credit: As a reminder, in order for a course to count as part of a transfer degree a student must make a C- or better in the college course. A student that receives a D will still receive a high school credit but will not receive a college transfer credit.
AP Courses: AP Courses are year-long and begin in the Fall. Please see Mrs. Blackmon for AP course information. Successfully completing an AP course would provide college credit from RCC equivalent courses for test scores of 3 or above. Most four year colleges and universities also award credit for certain AP scores. (As determined by each institution). In order to take an AP course a student must have: Course Content Teacher/Principal Recommendation and successful completion of prerequisite courses as listed in Randolph County School System's (RCSS) 2019-2020 Program of Study. The Program of Study can be found here.
RCSS Course Drop Policy: Students are not allowed to drop any course after the first five days of each semester. If a student withdraws from a NCVPS or CCP (College) course after the five-day period, the course is counted as a course attempted and a failing grade is recorded. A grade of 59 will be recorded if a student withdraws passing; if a student is failing, the actual grade earned will be recorded. Students enrolled in CCP courses through Randolph Community College (RCC) and wish to withdraw from those courses at any time must complete the official drop form at RCC within their designated timeline. Students enrolled in CCP courses may be deemed ineligible for certain college scholarships and financial aid/grants if they fail or drop courses after the designated time periods.
Summer Courses: Summer course registration happens after the advising meetings in the Spring. Students will only be allowed to take Summer courses if their degree plan requires Summer courses. Associate in Arts and Associate in Science degree plans do not require Summer courses. All other Summer courses must be approved by Mrs. Grosch, the parent/guardian, the college liaison, and counselor, and the Summer Course Form must be completed.
