The Coronavirus continues to prominently impact countless aspects of society, from the economy to our social lives. It is evident how necessary face masks are in protecting everyone, everyday. By now, everyone in society has their fair share of masks. However, some masks have been proven to be much less effective, and it is transparent how more people need to become educated for the safety of our lives. For example, gaiters and face shields are not successful enough in protecting those who wear it, due to it having no qualities that will prevent the airborne disease, from coming into contact with you, or preventing you from spreading it to others. Additionally, fabric/cloth masks are not as efficacious as some think. The designs, colors, and simplicity of grabbing it anywhere and putting it on, leads to an opaque truth of the effectiveness. The fabrics don’t protect people or the people that come in contact, unless a filter is put in between the mask and the mouth, or in slots that some cloth masks have.
On the other hand, there are countless masks that are beneficial and extremely preventative. Korean masks, like the KF94, are one of the most protective and effective masks to date, as well as dental masks! There are also many other types of masks that are breathable, but extremely functional. Make sure the masks “completely cover your nose and mouth”, and “fit snugly against the sides of your face and don’t have gaps” (CDC). Please take the time to research the masks you are wearing and using, to not only protect yourself, but to protect friends, family, and those who are immunocompromised and doing their part. It is crucial how everyone needs to come together, and become more educated for the safety of everyone, and to save as many lives and resources as possible. Masks are not the only way to combat the deathly disease, since quarantining is vital as well.
We all know that the Coronavirus (COVID-19) has affected our lives in plenty of ways. That is why it is important to keep the world educated on their job in this difficult time period. There are plenty of simple actions, in addition to wearing masks, that can be taken to improve our current situation. A strategy that has been shown to have positive results over time is quarantining. Quarantining is mainly used to keep someone who might have been exposed to COVID-19 away from others. However, in addition to people who have supposedly been exposed, quarantining is a task that can be done by most people to further prevent the spread of the virus. It is not rare for the disease to spread without any symptoms present, which is why the virus spreads faster when people who presume they are unexposed decide not to stay home. This usually results in them unknowingly spreading the virus. It should be noted that this would not be as much of a risk if people just stayed home. However, there are always going to be certain people that just cannot stay home, such as essential workers, but it is our job to try to limit the spread by not going out if it is not a necessity. So please, stay home!
We ask you to please do your research and educate yourself and others on the Coronavirus. As much as it may seem that we all understand what we need to do for our safety, it is clear in society the alarming/concerning truth we must battle. Please take the time to check out the resources below, and to teach others. Stay safe, wear a mask, and stay home!
