Safety Concerns/Drop-Off & Pick-Up

While it has been a great first month of school, there are logistical and safety concerns that need to be addressed when it comes to the procedures for morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up.  For the well-being of all of our children, please read this carefully. 

Monroe and Elbert Streets are extremely congested at arrival and dismissal times.  There are many students that either walk or ride bikes to and from school. It requires patience and civility when coming to pick up your child. 

• Please do not double or triple park on the streets.  This impedes traffic and jeopardizes the safety of our walking students.  

• Use caution when driving in and out of Smith School.  There are many students walking or riding their bikes.

• No one may get out of their car for any reason while on the car line.  

• Please be patient and cautious as you exit the parking lot.

• Students must wear bike helmets, and walk their bikes in when they enter the school parking lot.

• Remind  your child to follow the directions of the crossing guard and to put down their cell phones and pay attention especially when crossing the street.
