Fairview Lake YMCA

Seventh Grade students participated in an overnight field trip to Fairview Lake YMCA Camp in Stillwater, NJ on November 29-30. Students learned a lot, got to experience nature first hand, and most importantly had a great time being with their peers!

Student participated in many activities including a Ridge Hike on the Appalachian Trail, Candle Making, Shelter Building, Rock Wall Climbing and many songs and games. Also the food was AMAZING!

Screenagers

RHS Auditorium, 7:00pm

Target Audience: K-12

We will host a viewing of SCREENAGERS. Physician and filmmaker, Delaney Ruston, takes a deeply personal approach as she probes into the vulnerable corners of family life, including her own, to explore struggles over social media, video games, academics, and internet addiction. Through poignant, and unexpectedly funny stories, along with surprising insights from authors, psychologists, and brain scientists, SCREENAGERS reveals how tech time impacts kids' development and offers solutions on how adults can empower kids to best navigate the digital world and find balance. A Q&A session will follow the viewing of the documentary. The program is free; it is appropriate for parents, caregivers, teachers, and children age 10 and up with an adult (this is not a drop-off event).

All yearbook orders will take place through the Smith School PTO website.

Choose the PTO tab and then tap on the menu in the upper right corner. Yearbook ordering will be an option under Programs and Events. Yearbook order DEADLINE IS JANUARY 7

8th grade parents can purchase a baby photo with a message for your graduate. It is $22. The instructions on how to do this is available in this section as well. This is all done online. DEADLINE IS JANUARY 7

The Best wishes form is available to print out. Your child can bring this with $5 payment to school. This is an option for all grades. This is the only option not done online. Best Wishes DEADLINE IS JANUARY 7

Toy Drive

The Community Service Club is teaming up with Peer Leadership to run a holiday toy drive to benefit children from Ramsey Responds & the Mahwah CFA.

Please bring new, unwrapped toys to the Smith Lobby from December 3rd - 17th.

StuCo Thanksgiving Food Drive- Huge Success!

The Smith School StuCo would like to sincerely thank all who contributed to this year’s annual Thanksgiving Food Drive. Even with a snow day tossed in the mix, Smith School did not cease to amaze! All of the items that were collected were brought to the Center For Food Action to help aide families who are in need during this holiday season. The 8th grade homeroom reps and StuCo officers delivered the food to a CFA staff who was astonished at how much was collected. The StuCo members also helped sort the food and get it ready for families to pick up. All together, Smith School brought in over 1,000 items including 30 turkeys. We thank everyone for their continued support!
