All-Day Every Day Kindergarten
Thank you, Ramsey!
Your support at the polls means we can meet a long-standing goal to expand to All-Day, Everyday Kindergarten, and we are committed to doing that in Fall 2020. This improvement will help teachers meet a growing list of academic demands while still allowing time for the social, emotional and developmental skills that will serve our youngest students well throughout their entire academic careers.
Unofficial tallies from the Nov. 5 vote show 2,330 in favor and 1,378 opposed to the proposal, with mailed ballots yet to be counted. Official results should be certified by the end of the month.
Our staff is so excited to get started on detailed plans to bring this dream into reality. Voter support allows us to move forward with the construction of necessary classroom space -- using bond funds approved last year -- and these new operating funds to cover program costs. We’ll first turn our attention to construction plans and competitive bids, then residents will see work being done even before this school year ends. We don’t expect everything will be done before the Fall 2020 opening of school, but the remainder could be completed within a few months. The short time span between the opening of school and full use of the new space will require some flexibility, including mobile programming. Ramsey staff members are preparing to do that with their usual high level of professionalism.
This dedicated website will be updated to report progress.
The supportive result of the vote is yet another outside validation of the great things we are doing inside our schools. Ramsey Schools continue to shine in our academic classrooms, on the athletic fields, on the big stages, and even 15,000 feet high in the Andes Mountains! This is why #RamseySchools are the pride of our community.
I remain as grateful as ever for this support of the Ramsey community.
Superintendent Matthew J. Murphy, Ed.D.
