Welcome to the website of the Astronomical Radio Instrumentation Group (RAIG) of the University of Chile.

The group was founded in 2008 by the Professor Dr. Ernest Alexander Michael, and Professor. Dr. Patricio Mena, both members of the Department of Electrical Engineering (DEI) at the Faculty of Physical and Mathematical Sciences (FCFM from its Spanish acronym) of the University of Chile, in close collaboration with the Department of Astronomy. Shortly after its founding, Professor Dr. Marcos Díaz became part of the group.

Currently, two of its three facilities are located in the FCFM at Avenue Tupper 2007, Santiago. Dr. Marcos Díaz is the professor in charge of the Laboratory of Space and Planetary Exploration in the third floor of the Electrotechnologies building, Dr. Ernest Michael is the professor in charge of Photonics Group in the fifth floor of the DEI and Dr. Patricio Mena is their homologous at the Laboratory of Millimeter Waves in the National Astronomical Observatory.
