MR. SPAULDING
Lift Every Voice and Sing
Lift Every Voice and Sing – often called “The Black National Anthem” – was written as a poem by NAACP leader James Weldon Johnson (1871-1938) and then set to music by his brother John Rosamond Johnson (1873-1954) in 1899. Watch this video to see Mr. Spaulding perform the song on piano.

In order to participate, here is what we need:
1. Find a poster or photo that you would like to recreate and download or save it.
2. Take a picture of you either alone, with your classmates, or with your family recreating the photo you saved. Be sure to pay close attention to the clothing, the props and the pose in the original photo. The more the two photos match, the more likely you are to win.
3. Submit BOTH photos (the original and the one you created)!! All submissions must be done through the Google Form, below. Please fill out the form completely ensuring that your parent/guardian's email address is included.
PLEASE NOTE:
You must be signed in to your rahway.net gmail account in order to fill out the form.
DISCLAIMER: If you decide to work with a group of students and your submission wins, the prize money will be split evenly amongst the students. ONLY Rahway 7th & 8th Grade students are eligible to receive a prize.
