Each week your child will be sent home a story book for you to read to them. Please talk to your child about the story and the pictures asking them questions about what they can see and what they think will happen. Please read the document on the right for further information.
Here are some great new books for you to look out for and enjoy over the Summer!
Teachers send home reading scheme books for your child to read to you, these are changed weekly. The teachers will write short notes to explain what your child is working on that week. Please make sure that you write in the yellow journal to let us know how you have got on.
The reading books sent home will be selected to match the phonemes that your child has learnt. At school we read with each child three times a week.
My favourite rhyming story is Room on the Broom by Julia Donaldson.
My favourite rhyming story is Pass The Jam Jim by because they use different names when rhyming. I wonder what your name might rhyme with?
I really like the story 'Norman the Slug With The Silly Shell' by Sue Hendra. My favourite part is when he has found a shell and is playing with the snails. I also like the surprise ending!
I like this story 'A Squash and a Squeeze' by Julia Donaldson because the old man helps the old woman when all of the animals start running around the house. He is a good friend. Do you know any other stories by Julia Donaldson?
I like The Slightly Annoying Elephant by David Walliams as it makes me laugh and it makes me think about what I would do if an elephant came to my house.
I like Nibble The Book Monster by Emma Yarlett because Nibbles is very cheeky and you have to try and catch him throughout the book... Do you think you can find him?
