Steph Curry has a coach. Tiger Woods has a coach. The most successful entrepreneurs and Fortune 500 executives have coaches. Why is coaching, and leadership coaching in particular, such a novel part of education? As someone who has benefitted from coaching and served as a coach, I strongly believe this is something that needs to change.
A recent newsletter from Ed Week explained:
"Coaches in demand: The principalship has become a tougher gig and principals are increasingly reaching out to executive coaches for help managing it. The coaches say school leaders want guidance on building a better school culture, fixing disciplinary problems, and addressing the dip in student well-being, among other issues. A side benefit: These principals are also more focused on improving their own mental health."

Considering all of the challenges principals and other school administrators face, including building and maintaining a positive school culture among students and faculty, it's no wonder that getting a leadership coach has been described as "the best PD ever."
