The North Quincy High School STEM Fair, open to all NQ students in Grades 9-12, provides an opportunity for students to apply the scientific method to their own independent research project. Participating in the STEM Fair allows students to see that STEM is a creative, social process that involves problem solving and critical thinking.
This year, 129 students are signed up to participate in the 65th annual NQ STEM Fair with projects grouped in one of ten categories, including Astronomy, Physics, Engineering, Human Behavior and Environmental Science. Projects are then judged by members of the community, who are grading based on creativity, understanding, presentation and overall approach to the scientific process.
Students participating in our STEM Fair are showing that they not only know Science, but that they can do Science, and are capable of making discoveries and inventing solutions for many complicated problems. Many of our students will also have the opportunity to participate in the Regional, State and National STEM Fairs.
