Cultural Projects 

on Mental Health


Mindscapes Bengaluru has shaped cultural interventions exploring lived experience and 'missing voices' in mental health discourse, community-based care, serious mental illnesses, gender, and space, in a range of settings across Bengaluru —from communal spaces, low-income neighbourhoods, research and mental health institutions, museum, and public spaces. These projects are ongoing and being developed in collaboration with partners in Bengaluru, they will culminate in early 2023.

Foregrounding questions around language on mental health and the city, care, and a shared space for healing in togetherness.

Notes on Madness 

An interactive and immersive exhibition Humanising stories of serious mental illnesses from the medical archives to the present. 

Kathi, Kathi, Kaarana | Urban Investigation Film 

A collaborative film project exploring notions of wellbeing and the politics of 'home' with informal economy workers in the city.

Conversations 

in Drama 

A group of Community-based drama interventions to foster and understand mental health support in diverse, underserved social groups in the city

Art For Thought 

Reflective exercises that bring together art and themes of mindfulness, self-care and connection as paths to healing.

Mental Health at the Margins

A collaborative exhibition and ethnography developed by the team from IIHS and the members of the sex worker community in Bangalore encapsulated within the numerous visual, aural, and tactile materials exploring everyday mental wellbeing through the lens of  ‘sex work and identity’.
