About the Quezon City - Small Business and Cooperatives Development and Promotions Office (QC-SBCDPO)

As the office mandated to foster inclusive growth and development by stimulating entrepreneurship and enterprise enhancement amongst micro, small enterprises, and cooperatives (MSECs) in Quezon City, it is the mission of the Quezon City Small Business and Cooperatives Development and Promotions Office (QC-SBCDPO) to promote, support, and strengthen the MSEC sector by ensuring their establishment, continued viability, and sustainable growth through various programs, projects, and activities. 

2024 Calendar of Entrepreneurial Training Sessions and Seminars

In collaboration with various national government agencies such as the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Department of Science and Technology (DOST), Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR), along with private organizations such as Enstack Technologies, Inc., Startup Village, and the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry - Quezon City, QC-SBCDPO, through its Business Resource Division (BRD), has curated a comprehensive schedule of entrepreneurial training sessions and seminars for the year. These initiatives aim to empower micro, small enterprises, and cooperatives (MSECs) in their entrepreneurial endeavors.

List of Upcoming Trainings

Entrepreneurial Mindsetting 

Time: 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM
Entrepreneurial Mindset training aims to teach abilities that enable people to recognize opportunities, seize them, learn from challenges, and succeed in entrepreneurship. This training will be of help to potential entrepreneurs in starting new firms.

BIR Registration

Time: 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM
The office in partnership with the Bureau of Internal Revenue will have a series of training on BIR Registration, Tax Incentives, and BMBE as well as Tax Filing and Compliance to teach business people in understanding the importance of registration, tax filing, and compliance with BIR requirements.

Basic Food Hygiene 

Time: 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM
The Food Safety Seminar helps participating QC-based merchants to be familiar with basic practices with regards to food safety and food handling. This in turn ensures that their food products follow a quality standard and are safe for consumption.

Pricing and Costing

Time: 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM
This training is in partnership with DTI, the goals of this training are to differentiate pricing and costing, make the business profitable, the price covers costs, aligns with business goals, and resonates with the market.

Basic Taxation and Tax Compliance

Time: 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM
This entrepreneurship training, in partnership with the Bureau of Internal Revenue, aims to teach business people and the general public basic taxation and filing as well as bookkeeping. 

Packaging and Labeling Clinic

Time: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
This training will be in partnership with the Department of Science and Technology - National Capital Region, and tackle the compliance of MSECs to the Philippine Labeling Requirements and proper packaging use and design. This will be connected to the compliance to Philippine Food and Drug Administration requirements for License to Operate and Certificate of Product Registration.

Visual Merchandising and Product Photography Workshop

Time: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
This workshop will equip MSMEs with the essential skills to create visually compelling and impactful product presentations. They will learn how to leverage the power of visual merchandising and professional product photography to enhance brand image, increase sales, and captivate their target audience.

Franchising 101

Time: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Franchising is a business model where a well-established company (franchisor) licenses its brand, operating system, and trademarks to independent entrepreneurs (franchisees). The training aims small businesses to expand their businesses by venturing to franchising. It helps franchisees to become their own boss by owning and managing their own franchise, establish brand recognition and marketing, and receive ongoing training and support from their franchisors.

Bookkeeping 101

Time: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Bookkeeping 101, in partnership with DTI, is the first step towards financial fitness for a business. It's an introduction to the fundamental principles of recording, classifying, and summarizing financial transactions. The goals of this trainings are to help MSECs acquire financial clarity - where the money is coming from and going, tax compliance, business performance - monitor the business' progress, identify trends and success, and improve records and finances. 

Digital Marketing

Time: 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM
This intensive seminar will equip you with the knowledge and skills to navigate the dynamic landscape of digital marketing. Digital marketing refers to the promotion of products or services through various forms of electronic media, primarily on the internet. 

Business Proposal Writing Workshop

Time: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
This workshop will equip participants with the essential skills to write compelling and persuasive business proposals that win clients and secure funding. Participants will learn the key elements of a successful proposal, how to structure and format their proposals effectively, and how to craft persuasive and compelling narratives.

Accounting for Non-Accountants

Time: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
This seminar is designed for business owners, managers, and anyone who wants to improve their financial literacy. In this seminar, you will learn:
  1. The basics of accounting principles
  2. How to read and understand financial statements
  3. How to use financial information to make better business decisions.
This is in partnership with the Polytechnic University of the Philippines, Sta. Mesa (PUP Sta. Mesa).

Enhancing Negotiation Skills

Time: 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM
The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) offers various training programs to enhance the negotiation skills of Filipino entrepreneurs and professionals. These programs are designed to equip participants with the knowledge, tools, and techniques needed to effectively negotiate in various business settings, both domestic and international. One of the programs, Negotiation Skills for Entrepreneurs, is tailored for small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) owners and managers seeking to enhance their negotiation skills when dealing with suppliers, customers, and investors.

Intellectual Property Rights Awareness Seminar & Branding Workshop

Time: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
This training will discuss Intellectual Property Rights and Branding Seminar. IPR aims to understand the core concepts of intellectual property and its different types (patents, copyrights, trademarks, etc.) and gain familiarity with the legal framework surrounding IPR protection. Branding Seminar tackles the practices and techniques revolving around presenting their product in the best light through effective branding and merchandising. This training will equip participants with knowledge and skills in regards to establishing a strong, unique, and memorable branding for their products and services.

Marketing 101

Time: 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM
Marketing 101 aims to educate business people, as well as people interested to put up a business, on the basics of marketing. This course aims to teach the participants to understand and identify customer needs, analyze the current market trend, promote business brands, products, and/or services, and boost the company’s profitability while also maintaining customer satisfaction. This will be in partnership with the Department of Trade and Industry—National Capital Region Office.

HAFFI Bootcamp

Time: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
In partnership with the Association of Filipino Franchisers, Inc. (AFFI), the Franchising Bootcamp is a 2-day event that aims to cater to interested franchisees. This boot camp aims to provide guidance and assistance to QCitizens who want to venture into franchising business.This event tackles the following topics:1. Product innovation2. HALAL Awareness

Time: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
This training program aims to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of Halal principles and practices, focusing on their relevance in various sectors, particularly in the food and beverage industry.

Design Thinking for Entrepreneurs

Time: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
This program equips aspiring and existing entrepreneurs with a creative and human-centered approach of Design Thinking to tackle business challenges and develop innovative solutions. Participants will learn to empathize with their customers, define meaningful problems, ideate and prototype solutions, and test their ideas in the real world.

How To Build an Online Store with Enstack

Enstack is a superapp designed to empower Filipino small businesses with omnichannel selling capabilities. It functions as a one-stop solution for entrepreneurs, allowing them to easily manage their businesses online and offline. 
Enstack offers how to build and manage an online store, sell across channels including the web store, social media chat, and even phone calls and in-person interactions. It offers multiple payment options, delivery services, and business management tools such as inventory management, tracking sales, generating reports, and more.

Certified Digital Negosyo (CDN) Program 

Startup Village Philippines is a leading incubator/accelerator that empowers aspiring entrepreneurs to transform their innovative ideas into successful businesses.Certified Digital Negosyo or CDN was created by Startup Village as a capacity-building intervention to help level-up MSMEs. MSMEs are matched to digital solutions provided by startups in order to prepare them for the digital world. It is composed of a series of practical talks and workshops where MSMEs are educated on specific digital solutions and provided FREE access to startup solutions that they can use to level up their negosyos. The program is designed for Nano, Micro, Small and Medium enterprises.

Friday Finance & Accounting Clinic

The Friday Finance & Accounting Clinic is a dedicated consultation session offering expert guidance on financial management, bookkeeping, tax compliance, and business accounting essentials by MAPASQ Consultancy Corp. MAPASQ is a consulting firm that offers accounting and Philippine tax consultation and outsourcing. In addition, they deliver Web and IT services which covers ERP, CRM, HRIS, website, customized systems, and other operational systems for businesses.

Bakersfield Baking Products is a Filipino-owned company that specializes in the production of high-quality baking ingredients.The Baking Demo, in partnership with Bakersfield, will assist aspiring and existing baking entrepreneurs by providing instruction in baking essentials and food science.

Proudly Original Products of Quezon City (POP QC)

The POP QC program showcases the artistry and innovation of city-honed products through trade shows, bazaars, and exhibits, providing a local market-access platform for MSECs in Quezon City.It is a market access platform that provides small business owners access to a free market or selling place while assisting them to adhere to market compliances such as food safety standards, packaging and labeling, and, of course, business permit registration. Who can apply?
  1. Must be a Quezon City resident
  2. Business owners with locally handcrafted and manufactured products
  3. Must possess a valid health certificate issued by the Quezon City Health Department (QCHD) (for food merchants only).
  4. Business owners who possess the following documents will be prioritized:
    • City Permit
    • BIR Certificate of Registration

QC Payday Fresh Market

Since it first started in 2019, QC Fresh Market has been supporting rural and urban farmers’ livelihoods by providing regular opportunities to sell their fresh farm produce, goods, and products directly to consumers, promoting the farm-to-consumer model, and ensuring sellers keep all the profits.SBCDPO is also partnering with DTI, DA, DILG, and DOLE for the conduct of Katuwang sa Diwa at Gawa para sa Masaganang Ani at Mataas na Kita (KADIWA), a marketing initiative that seeks to provide customers with access to quality yet affordable goods and commodities, as well as provide access to the market for farmers, fisherfolk, and micro-enterprises.Who can apply?
  1. Must be a Quezon City resident
  2. Business owners with healthy, organic, and locally produced products. 
  3. Must possess a valid health certificate issued by the Quezon City Health Department (QCHD) (for food merchants only).
  4. Business owners who possess the following documents will be prioritized:
    1. City Permit
    2. BIR Certificate of Registration

Kyusi Nights: Community Night Market

The Kyusi Nights: Night Market is a seasonal/roving bazaar conducted by the SBCDPO upon request by the different barangays in the city. The bazaar will house all the different entrepreneurs in the respective barangays and showcase their local community products as well as famous food from local eateries and online sellers. Barangays may coordinate with SBCDPO for the planning and implementation of the market. Barangays who are interested in conducting a Kyusi Nights: Community Night Market must submit a letter of intent via email (sbcdpo@quezoncity.gov.ph) or in person at QC-SBCDPO

QCertified Roadmap Program

The QCertified: FDA Product Registration and Licensing Assistance Program features a roadmap of various trainings, workshops, testing, and other relevant activities to assist interested MSECs in acquiring their permits, such as the Philippine Food and Drug Administration's (FDA) License to Operate (LTO) and/or Certificate of Product Registration (CPR). Who can apply?
  1. Must be a Quezon City resident
  2. Business owners who belong to the Processed Food / Cosmetics Sector
  3. Must be a Manufacturer/Toll Manufacturer/Repacker/Packer/Importer/Trader/Distributor
  4. Business owners with existing business permits (DTI BNR (for sole proprietorship), SEC Certificate of Registration (for partnership and corporation),  CDA Certificate of Registration (for cooperative), Barangay, City, BIR) or committed to secure the necessary permits during the duration of the program
  5. Must have an existing facility or planning to have a facility solely for business
