Teacher Name: Ms. Gordon
Classes Taught: Freshman Seminar, Video Production I, Video Production II, Media Skills
Hello and welcome! My name is Mrs. Gordon, and I’m thrilled to be joining the high school this year in a new teaching role after spending the past 21 years teaching 5th grade at William H. Barton Intermediate School. While I’ve always loved teaching elementary students, I’m excited to bring my passion for education, creativity, and student connection to the high school level.
I grew up in the small town of Whitehall, NY, where I attended school from Kindergarten through 12th grade. I’ve always enjoyed being active—in my younger years I danced (Ballet, Jazz, and Tap) for nearly 12 years, was a cheerleader, ran Track & Field, and stayed busy as a proud Girl Scout. I earned my degree from SUNY Plattsburgh, where I discovered my love for teaching and built lifelong friendships.
Teaching runs in my family! My mom, two uncles, and a cousin were all educators so it feels natural that I followed the same path. I began my career in Queensbury in 2003 and have been lucky to work in a district that values community, student growth, and innovative learning. Over the years, I’ve been involved in many clubs, events, and student-led fundraisers, and I currently serve as co-advisor of the Video Production Club.
Outside of school, I live in Chestertown, NY, where I enjoy an active lifestyle surrounded by the beauty of the Adirondacks. I love to camp, hike, bike, run, kayak, and explore National Parks whenever I can. I’m an avid cyclist and especially enjoy hitting the back roads or trails near home.
I also share my adventures with my dog, Murphy—an English Teddy Bear Goldendoodle with lots of personality! He’s my hiking buddy, kayaking co-pilot, and constant source of laughs. Don’t be surprised if you hear a few Murphy stories throughout the year!
I’m truly passionate about helping students find success, build confidence, and discover what excites them. I look forward to this new adventure at the high school and can’t wait to get to know each of you. Here’s to a great year ahead!
