Saving superconducting quantum processors from qubit energy decay and correlated errors generated from gamma and cosmic Rays
Cosmic rays and natural radioactivity produce quasiparticle heat pulses that effectively kill quantum error correction. Structures are described that channel this energy away from qubits. This affects other solid-state qubits.
Information Constraints for Scalable Control in a Quantum Computer
The complexity of qubit control places size constraints on the control system.
Surface loss calculations and design of a superconducting transmon qubit with tapered wiring
Analytical formulas are presented for planar capacitors used in transmon design. Tapering of the wire connecting to the Josephson junction is shown to significantly lower its loss.

Massively Parallel Probabilistic Computing with Sparse Ising Machines
In collaboration with Karem Camsari's group at UCSB, this paper demonstrates a probabilistic QUBO solver with FPGA hardware. Factoring of a 32-bit integer into primes is demonstrated.
