Department’s Mission:
The department's mission is to facilitate higher education and ensure its delivery with high quality along with mastery of the training process, which leads to growth of personal knowledge and meeting job requirements. The department also aspires to award different scientific degrees, and provide science programs rich in information, skills. Moreover, the department prepares students who have the ability to work in different fields, as well as the ability to teach and convey information to students and provide them with the necessary life skills for success. It also builds and refines students' talents and develops their abilities in all fields of chemistry, and provides a research environment that applies the latest technological developments to sustain national development. At the educational level, the department seeks to nurture students with a spirit of perseverance, self-confidence, and continuing the pursuit of knowledge through sound scientific methods.

Department Goals
1- Preparing graduates who are scientifically and technically qualified in all fields of chemistry to contribute to the national development program and serve society.
2- Conducting academic and applied scientific research within an annual research plan, motivating researchers and students to publish their research results in international fields with high impact factor.
3- Contributing to the dissemination of scientific culture by publishing research and articles in national, regional and international scientific journals, and participating in scientific conferences and seminars.
4- Providing analytical support and scientific consultations to the public and private sectors in all fields of chemistry.
5- Holding scientific study circles with the participation of faculty members and postgraduate students in order to spread scientific awareness among department staff.
6- Providing academic curricula based on bridging theoretical knowledge with laboratory experience, with continuous updating.
7- Disseminating knowledge in all fields of chemistry and working to apply it to serve society.
8- Working to develop the competencies and skills of faculty members by encouraging them to participate in national, regional and international conferences, and establishing joint scientific cooperation with distinguished global universities.
9- Preparing human cadres with knowledge of chemistry sciences so that they are able to carry out the teaching duty.
10- Providing opportunities for outstanding students to continue their postgraduate studies through Master's and PhD studies.
Providing books, references, research, and periodicals to provide students with the opportunity to be aware of the latest knowledge.
11- Conducting training courses for students (safety courses - courses on laboratories)
12- Providing opportunities for faculty members of the Chemistry Department to participate in conferences inside and outside Iraq.
13- Scientific lectures in charities to spread scientific culture among community members.
14- Conducting research and solving some problems requested from the department in service of the community.
15- Making use of all available capabilities and techniques to contribute to developing and improving administrative and academic work within a distinguished educational environment that adopts study, experimentation, and contribution to maintaining comprehensive quality in education.
