School should be fun! We all learn in different ways. What better way to learn than to be engaged? All students should be presented with subject matter through various methods. Lessons and activities mean more to children if they aren't just pen to paper. I love to share "material that matters" with my kids. I want them to look back at their childhood learning experiences and realize that there was meaning in what was being taught to them. I hope that they will take away a skill or a moral lesson that they can apply later on in life. I make a habit of telling my kids that they've done an amazing job, but also give constructive criticism when needed. I let them know that they are important and loved every day. I truly believe that my students are my extended family and I absolutely love having the opportunity to teach, learn and grow with them at QPGS!
I graduated from the College of St. Elizabeth in Convent Station, NJ, and earned a Bachelor of Arts in English and Education. My teaching journey began with second graders for a few years but I soon realized my love for working with adolescents from interactions with them as a cheering coach, concert/drama club moderator, and summer camp supervisor at Sacred Heart School in Kearny. Upon its closing 13 years later, I followed my students to Queen of Peace where I have been for the last 16 years. A teacher's role is ever-changing. I have taught 6th, 7th, and 8th grade homerooms and have also been responsible for our Resource Room - making sure that our students with educational plans meet their goals. I've covered Literature, Language Arts, Social Studies, Mathematics, Algebra, and Religion with my kids during my 29 years as a teacher. I am a Disney fanatic and - as many of my students can tell you - I love teaching about Edgar Allan Poe and Washington Irving, two of the literary greats! When I'm not teaching, I love spending time in Disney World with my family as well as making frequent trips to NYC to take in the sites and catch some Broadway shows.
