Mrs. Trautman's Class
Welcome back for the 2025-2026 school year!
The Pre-K program at Queen of Heaven School is designed to accommodate the needs of children who have turned four years old before December 1st of the current year. All Pre-K students must be fully potty trained prior to admission into our program. Pre-K classes will meet five days a week from 8:15 AM - 2:15 PM. Pre-K students may also attend the Before School Program which begins at 7:00 AM and the After School Program which runs until 5:45 PM. Students join the older grades in the cafeteria each day where a hot lunch may be purchased or they can bring their lunch. A rigorous Pre-Kindergarten academic program is our emphasis as we focus on the whole child as they develop into enthusiastic lifelong learners. Homework is assigned at the Pre-Kindergarten level to be completed weekly.
The overall goal of the program is to build a foundation for lifelong learning and achievement of the Common Core Early Learning Standards. A strong emphasis is placed on social and emotional development. Each child is encouraged to gain independence while adjusting to a regular school routine. The children interact with other grade levels and participate in school concerts and weekly Mass. At Queen of Heaven School, all children attending Pre-K are required to wear a uniform.
The Pre-K program at Queen of Heaven School is a structured program based on the Pre-K Common Core Early Learning Standards. Our students will learn Math, ELA, writing skills, letter and phonemic awareness, Science, STEM, Social Studies and Religion. We will encourage and guide your child to become more independent and effectively communicate with peers and adults.
Daily PE class and specials in Music, Art, Dance, Library, STEM and Spanish are offered within our program to provide further enrichment. We also participate in various outreach learning opportunities and field trips! The children will have older buddies that will join them for weekly Mass and special experiences.
A child’s first school experience is an important step. We feel the learning experiences in our Pre-K program provide each child with an opportunity to develop the skills that are the foundation for growth and learning at the primary level.
