Thinking about the process and product of your Capstone, reflect upon what you are most proud of and what you might do differently if you were to complete a similar project in the future.
This Capstone was the most challenging and entertaining project I've ever done in my art path. My most proudest achievement was learning how to do storyboarding right, and learning new poses and expressions I thought I could never do. some of the poses I did (ex: the dragon girl flying down), I was really proud of. I do however want to do a lot differently. I wanted to do a lot more with this project but due to personal circumstances (EVIT) I had to cut it short. I also want to change some of my anatomy in the storyboards, as they weren't the best, and I want to continue improving my anatomy.
Explain how your life experiences are reflected through your project.
Ever since I was little, I was an imaginary and creative person. I always doodled little figures of people, especially Pokemon as it was a huge fixation I had. I started to actually learn how to draw when I was in sixth grade in Newell Barney Middle School with my friend now sister helping me with my journey even now she is a wonderful support encouraging me. I started to understand some basics of anatomy, created pieces I imagined in my head, and learned some of the basics like backgrounds, hair, and different ways to sketch out bodies. I always wanted to show my creativity, and how clearly I see images and animations in my head, so this capstone reflects that by showing basic backgrounds, anatomy, and composition.
Thinking about the Extra-curricular hours you completed, reflect upon what you learned through the experiences and/or how you have been impacted as an artist?
My capstone hours, that include my old art from freshman year to now as a growing artist, shows how much I improved as an artist over the years from 6th grade to now. At first I rushed through my projects, spending little time and effort on the drawing I made. As months and years passed, I dialed down and started to take my time on my projects, taking my time and making sure every detail was as right as I wanted it to be. I learned about patients and different art styles. The littlest details can change a whole piece of art.
How is your life positively impacted by the arts?
My art path has positively impacted me by just helping me with everyday problems. When I'm stressed out from school and/or life or want to forget a bad event, I tend to do my personal interests, such as games or art. Art helped me find great friends, great art teachers, help me learn techniques I thought I wouldn't learn like simple dynamic poses and simple heads , jobs i thought didn't exist being Concept Art, which also landed me on helping with some of my friends personal projects(EX: a mod for a game), and just helping me personally become the person i am today, a creative, visionary, and innovate person I am today.
How do you plan to include artistic experiences in your future after high school?
I want to show my experiences by doing a couple of things. First, I want to help people with their projects. When it comes to games, or creating art for game modifying, I want to create art for their projects, and help design what scenes or characters look like, as I want to be a concept artist. Second, I want to learn more, like 2D/3D animation. After I get enough money, I want to try to either go to UAT for game art, or REVIT for 2D/3D animation, as that's what I personally want to do in the future.
What advice would you give incoming freshmen about studying the arts to help them make the most of their experiences while in high school?
Don't be scared to try new ideas/styles you think are hard or impossible, and find a way around that's most suitable for your art style. Don't be afraid to show your art to people, yes it’ll feel embarrassing at first showing people your art but it will reach out to people and some people will compliment on your art no matter what. It will motivate you to create new and exciting art for everyone to see, and down the road you will get better, just practice, practice, and practice, till you're satisfied.
