For my Capstone, I wanted to show off what I've learned my 4 years in the performing arts. I also wanted it to relate to little kids because I am working to become an elementary school teacher. So why not combine my love for theater and teaching kids together and create a short play for them! That's where I came up with the idea of Cinderella. Kids love interactive, magical stories and introducing them to theater at a young age is good for developing brains!
The very first thing I had to do was pick a children's book to base the performance off of. My little sister and I went to Goodwill and we found Disney's Cinderella, it was perfect! I casted and rehearsals started. I wrote the entire book script into Google Docs, highlighted each roles lines, wrote down some blocking, and made a props list. I had my costume designer, Lilly Bradshaw, create costume designs for me to approve and ask the actors to provide them. Overall, my Capstone took a total of about 4 weeks!
