My first ever musical in high school was Chicago. This opportunity opened many doors into theatre for me, and it taught me a lot about myself and how theatre works. This was also my first gateway to dancing, which I ended up loving.
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child was my first play with the Queen Creek Theatre Company. This was an exciting opportunity for our troupe because we were one of the only schools in the country to be chosen to put on this production. Harry Potter is special to many people, and I think that added energy and effort needed into the production of this amazing show.
My second musical in high school was Hadestown, this was during the spring of my junior year. This musical has so many different hidden meanings and it inspired me to be a better dancer, performer, and singer. The work that the ensemble and leads put into this show made it truly amazing, and I gained a lot of experience from being a part of this.
I have had the amazing opportunity to be a part of Chorale at Queen Creek for 2 years. Previously in the year before, I was part of Women's Choir, which was an all female ensemble. When I moved up to Chorale, I gained so much experience with harmonies, vocal technique, vowels, and overall singing ability. I love to sing, it is one of my passions, and being part of choir only increased my love for music.
During my junior year, I chose to take the Piano 1 class at Queen Creek. I wanted to try something new and learn to play an instrument. On the bonus side, it helped me with sight reading, reading music in general, and musicality. I knew that I loved music, and learning to play an instrument helped me with becoming more well-rounded as a musician.
During the fall of my Senior year, our theatre company chose to do Agatha Christie's, A Murder Is Announced. In this play, I played the role of Mitzi. This opportunity allowed me to grow as an actress and person. I learned many values and lessons about myself and theatre, including character analysis, collaborating, and most of all, learning that theatre is about having fun and telling a story.
Adding on to our fall play, we got chosen to perform at Mainstage at Arizona State Thespian Festival. Two productions are chosen every year to showcase the talent in Arizona, and our theatre company had the amazing opportunity to perform in front of thousands of people. Looking back, this experience was surreal for me and it was an opportuntiy that I will forever be grateful for.
