My song, Swan Song is a piece I wrote to try and express a bittersweet ending. The beginning is subtle and then blends into soaring motifs and chrous's to highlight the ups and downs music has provided me with. The song has important features and solos from instruments like the cello, oboe, and french horn, that drive the message of a hopeless but satisfying end. This song was written to mirror the conflict I felt about moving on and the thought of possibly never playing music again as I go into college. I haved decided not to allow myself to lose my musical passion, but this song was written with all the love for orchestra and all the sadness at the thought of leaving it behind. Although I am not letting music become a part of my past, some of the friends, directors, and ensembles I have grown so fond of playing with will continue on without me as I go off to college, and I choose to be forever grateful for the way they have meaningfully and irreversibly changed me for the better. This song is dedicated to all the people I have met along the way, that have brought me flowers after concerts, cheered me on before an audition, made time to reherse with me, taught me, and shared this beautiful art that has been a pillar of humanity since the beginning of time.
