How to Check your UAN Status Online?

What is the Purpose of UAN? 

A member is assigned multiple PF IDs by various organisations. All of these IDs assigned to a single individual will be combined into a single Universal Account Number via UAN. When an employee joins a new organisation, he will supply the previously generated UAN in order to link the new PF number to it. This would facilitate the transfer of PF accounts from one employer to another without requiring the PF balance to be withdrawn.
