Local Solutions - Global Impact
The Global Innovation in sustainability Summit (GISS) is a biannual summit for schools from around the world to participate in a conference on sustainability in Qatar. Schools engage their students in a "Challenge" on sustainability action focusing on the United nations sustainable development goals. Students will submit their project ideas to GISS committee. A highly qualified team of educators and environmental sustainability experts will evaluate the projects.
Finalists will be invited to participate in GISS, to showcase their project, engage with other schools and students as well as learn from experts who will attend the conference. This is an opportunity for students to learn about their role in sustainability as well as their responsibility to take action and be empowered to make a better tomorrow.
The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, adopted by all United Nations Member States in 2015, provides a shared blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet, now and into the future. At its heart are the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
