The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, adopted by all United Nations Member States in 2015, provides a shared blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet, now and into the future. The State of Qatar and the United Nations have had a long history of cooperation based on the success of Qatari diplomacy and confidence in Doha's ability to organize and sponsor major international events and conferences. Guided by the Qatar National Vision 2030, the State of Qatar relies on research, development, and innovation (RDI) in implementing SDG 2030.

Qatar Academy Al Wakra, an IB World School and member of the Qatar Foundation for Education, Research, and Community Development, is hosting the Global Innovations in Sustainability Summit, GISS 2025. This is a gathering of young, ambitious minds from Qatar and around the world who share a common interest in practical solutions for sustainable development.
