Representative RaĂşl Grijalva introduced two bills that would strengthen tribes' ability to co-manage public lands and protect sacred sites. The Advancing Tribal Parity on Public Lands Act and the Tribal Cultural Areas System Act has support from numerous members of Congress, tribes, Native organizations, and environmental groups.
We now need to bring more attention and build support for these bills. Below you will find ways to bring attention to the bills and increase support through social media.
Option 1: (Twitter/Facebook/Instagram)
Protect sacred places by signing the petition to support both the Advancing Tribal Parity on Public Lands Act and the Tribal Cultural Areas System Act!
Option 3, specific to passing the Tribal Cultural Areas System Act: (Facebook/Instagram)
Sign the petition to protect sacred sites! Native Nations and Indigenous Peoples have been here since time immemorial. Pass the Tribal Cultural Systems Act to support our efforts to protect our sacred places, medicines, burials, ancestors, cultural items, and ceremonial ways, and to ensure Indigenous voices and representation lead in these important matters pertaining to our rights, freedoms, and ways of life.
Option 2, specific to passing the Advancing Tribal Parity on Public Lands Act: (Facebook/Instagram)
Sign the petition to protect sacred sites! Primary federal land management laws were enacted more than 50 years ago, with little thought or acknowledgment of the cultural and legal connections of Indian Tribes to these lands. The Advancing Tribal Parity on Public Lands Act seeks to change that exclusionary pattern. Contact your Congress rep to make sure they support this Act. Protect sacred places and cultural ways of life. Let’s break it down together, swipe for more. #ProtectSacredSites #ProtectTheSacred
