This year will be my 32nd year teaching in the Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District. Teaching in this district is a dream come true, as I attended Fairmont, Bernardo Yorba, and Esperanza High Schools growing up. I have been at Brookhaven for 27 years and spent 5 years teaching at Mabel Paine (where I also did my student teaching).
I have taught all grades 1-6 during my time teaching. However, I have spent 25 of those years in first and second grade. I truly enjoy teaching our littles and watching them blossom into students who are ready to shine!
I attended California State University, Fullerton for my both undergraduate and graduate degrees as well as my Multiple Subject Teaching Credential. I hold a Bachelors of Science in Child Development and a Masters Degree in Curriculum and Development. I have also spent many additional hours in the last 27 years attending trainings in order to keep up with the latest methods. This includes many hours this past summer diving into our new curriculum in social studies and science!
I grew up in Yorba Linda from the age of 9 (when my family moved here from Chicago). I continue to live in Yorba Linda with my family. My husband, Mark, teaches accounting, marketing, and business law at Valencia High School. My oldest son, Derek (27), lives in Texas and is a professional golf caddy for my younger son. My younger son, Ricky (24), is a professional golfer who plays on the PGA Tour. My daughter, Kelli (21), just graduated from Cal State Fullerton with a degree in child development. She will be pursuing her teaching credential at Vanguard University this year. My dog, Bailey, is 10 years old and is always happy to see me!
