About your teacher:

Welcome to my class! Students know me as Ms. Okada, Ms. O, or Okadasensei. I was born and raised in Southern California. I've lived in Orange County for the majority of my life. I graduated from UC Irvine for my Bachelor's of Arts degree in Japanese Language and Literature with an emphasis in Japanese, East-Asian, and Comparative Literature. My favorite courses at UCIrvine were comparative literature and art history subjects. I then got my teaching credentials at CSU Fullerton and when I had more than a decade of teaching under my belt, I went back to CSU Fullerton for my Master's of Science degree in Secondary Education. I've been teaching at EDHS since 2002 and have been a proud Golden Hawk ever since. As a teacher, I love the following: mentoring new teachers to share my love of teaching, sharing my love of literature and rhetoric to my language arts students, and sharing my love for language and Japanese culture to my Japanese students. Personally, I love crafting, gardening, cooking, reading, writing, and spending time with my family. I'm excited to share more about me throughout the year as we get to know one another!
