In 8th grade, we will study American history from colonization through the end of the 19th century. We will cover the major founding documents and ideals of our nation, our political system, the emergence of political parties, foreign policy in the early republic, the development of regional differences, westward expansion, the abolitionist movement, the Civil War and Reconstruction periods.
Instruction in this class is informed by the California Content Standards for History Social Science, the History Social Science Framework, and the Common Core Standards for ELA and Social Science.
