WICOR is an acronym for Writing, Inquiry, Collaboration, Organization, and Reading and provides a learning model that educators can use to guide students in comprehending concepts and articulating ideas at increasingly complex levels.
Used in our classroom:
Writing-Students take notes, do one-pagers, graphic organizers: circle maps, write about what they learn, and making connections (K.W.L)
Used in our classroom:
Inquiry-Students have sentence frames, students say complete sentences, critical thinkers, & ask opened questions
Collaboration-Students are grouped to work together in all subject areas: share ideas and opinions
Organization- Students are learning to manage their materials for each subject and working on individual goals, Students are learning to keep their school items organized, color-coded, and labeled.
Students are practicing daily with grammar, vocabulary, and connecting prior knowledge
