MEET MRS. MUCHO

Education:

I have been a teacher in PYLUSD for 25 years. I taught elementary school at Woodsboro Elementary and Linda Vista Elementary for 18 of those years and middle school at YLMS for 7 of those years. I am currently beginning my 25th year at YLMS teaching 6th grade language arts. I received my bachelor's degree in child and adolescent studies and a multiple subjects credential, along with a single subject credential in health science and another in English, and my master's degree in education.

Teaching:

I LOVE teaching and I am passionate about what I do. I like to built strong relationships with my students and their families. Having moved from elementary to middle school, I understand the pressures and changes of 'growing up' and transitioning to a new school with new kids and multiple periods in a day.  It is definitely a big change moving up. I hope to help your child adjust and meet new friends.

Naturally, I want your child to master grade-level standards, but it is also very important to me that I help him or her to become an independent, confident, goal-attaining individual. In the classroom, I have high expectations of each student because I feel that the higher the goals - the harder they will try! I promise to believe in them, to nurture them, and to want the best for them. It is my job to create the environment for each child to succeed, and I will do my very best.

Family:

I have two amazing sons. Wyatt, my youngest, is a twelfth grader at Esperanza High School, graduating in June 2025.  Mason,  my oldest, is a senior in college ready to graduate with his bachelor's degree in May 2025.  I am married to my husband, Mr. Mucho. He is in the medical business and he loves to surf! It is a good thing we live by the beach!

Traveling:

I love to travel the world. I feel that traveling allows me to learn more about different people and cultures. I have been to over forty-five countries and just checked off my 50th state, Alaska. I have a blog about my travels and like to share my adventures with family and friends.

Running and Reading:

In addition to my family, teaching, traveling, and nutrition, I like to run and read. These are two hobbies I do daily.

I am excited for a new year of new adventures with my new students! GO BOBCATS!
