About Mr. Hipwell

My name is Mr. Hipwell and I am excited to be your science teacher this year!

I graduated from UCLA with a bachelor's degree in Biology and I got my teaching credential and my master's degree from Hope International University. During my time at UCLA I played trumpet in the marching band and I can be seen in an NCAA commercial and a Wendy's commercial. That's also where I met Mrs. Hipwell! I substitute taught in PYLUSD for 3 years before deciding to teach full time, after which time I was the student teacher for Mrs. Ward here at YLHS! I started teaching full time at Edgewood Middle/High School in West Covina, where I taught 8th grade science and high school Chemistry. I have been excited to be at Yorba Linda High School since 2019!

Some of my hobbies include golf, reading (check out my book corner), collecting Pokemon cards, watching and acting in musical theatre, watching Ducks hockey, and Angels baseball. I play trumpet, bass, and guitar in addition to singing.

Finally, I have an adorable corgi and an incredible wife (both pictured below).
