Upcoming Events
Dear Aztec Families,
Thank you for partnering with us this year as we continue to encourage and support student success. With approximately seven weeks remaining in the semester, we ask for your continued support in ensuring students arrive on time to all of their assigned classes each day. Consistent, on-time attendance helps students benefit from bell-to-bell instruction and prepares them for upcoming final exams.
Beginning next week, we will be implementing random Tardy Sweeps throughout the day during class transitions. At the warning bell, students will be expected to head directly to class and be in their assigned seats before the tardy bell rings. Students who are not in their assigned class and seated on time will be swept/sent to a nearby administrator or office representative, issued a one-hour detention, and then given a Tardy Sweep Entry Pass to return to class.
We appreciate your continued partnership and look forward to supporting student growth and success through the end of the semester.
Have Your Voice Heard: PYLUSD Community Input Sessions
Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District invites students, families, and staff to participate in upcoming Strategic Planning Community Input Sessions. These meetings are an opportunity to share your ideas and help shape the future of our schools by identifying key priorities, goals, and initiatives that support student success. Multiple sessions will be held throughout April and early May at various school sites, including options with Spanish interpretation. Each session offers interpretation services and free childcare for TK–6 students.
If you plan to attend, please be sure to RSVP in advance to help us prepare for seating, childcare, and any needed accommodations.
For full details—including session dates, times, locations, and RSVP information—please refer to the document on the right. If you’re unable to attend a session, you can still share your input through the district survey linked in the document.

Students recently applied their understanding of geometry through a hands-on project focused on scale factor and dilations. Beginning with an original figure, students created precise enlargements using a given scale factor, demonstrating how figures change proportionally while maintaining their shape.
Through this project, students strengthened their skills in measurement, proportional reasoning, and geometric transformations. They also practiced accuracy and attention to detail as they recreated their figures on a larger scale.
This engaging activity allowed students to see how mathematical concepts connect to real-world applications such as design, architecture, and art, while showcasing their creativity and problem-solving skills.
The Garden Grove Elks Lodge #1952 is hosting its annual “Dollars for Scholars” Texas Hold’em fundraiser on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at the G.G. Elks Lodge. This exciting community event raises funds to support student scholarships, with all proceeds going directly toward helping local students pursue their educational goals.
Guests can enjoy an evening of games, food, and prizes, including a Texas Hold’em tournament, casino-style games, raffles, and silent auction opportunities. The $40 buy-in includes poker chips or game play access, appetizers, and a chance to win Visa gift cards and other prizes. The event is open to the public, making it a great opportunity to support education while enjoying a fun and social evening.
Be sure to reserve your spot early and help make a difference in the lives of future scholars!
CAASPP testing for all 11th-grade students will take place from May 18-29. These state assessments measure student progress in English language arts, mathematics, and science, and provide valuable insight into college and career readiness.
Strong performance on CAASPP, especially on the Smarter Balanced assessments, can support students beyond high school, as results may be used by participating colleges and universities to demonstrate readiness and potentially reduce the need for additional placement testing.
Families will receive a detailed letter before testing with important dates, expectations, and tips to support student success. We encourage all juniors to come well-rested, on time, and ready to do their best. Your support plays an important role in helping students feel confident and prepared.
