Stationery packs can be purchased from OfficeMax through the My School portal. See further information on the stationery page.
However, if you are beginning during the year, we suggest bringing your stationery from your previous school and checking with your child/ren's teacher as they will be able to utilise these items and discuss with you any specific items that may be required.
You can read more about our approach to eLearning with Chromebooks here. If you have a Chromebook at home you may bring it to school or you may purchase one at Noel Leeming, PBTech, Warehouse Stationery or from your preferred store. By providing a device for your child it becomes their property, which they can use at school throughout years 4 – 8. They take the device home each day and it is their property when they leave Pyes Pā School. However, there is no requirement or obligation to buy one. If you do not purchase one, children will have access to shared devices in the classroom, but they are unable to take the device home.
Pyes Pā School does not have a daily school uniform. The only compulsory item is a black school hat in house colours that must be worn in Term 1 and Term 4 and is purchased from our school office. There is a number of optional uniform items that can be purchased from the school office including a sports T-shirt and hoodie in your child’s house colours.
Pyes Pā School has opted into the donations scheme. This means there are no school donations or costs for school related day trips. Extra activities such as overnight camps and sports teams incur a cost. Payments for these activities and other items can be made via Kindo.
Children will need to bring a named lunch box and drink bottle. In terms 1 and 4, students will be required to bring their togs and a towel for swimming.
For junior students, we recommend a spare change of clothes. To support developing independence, is also helpful to have shoes and clothing that they are able to put on and take off themselves. It is good to buy a school bag which is big enough to fit all of these items and their book bag inside.
Our school bus is a provision from the Ministry of Education for the students in our bus entitlement zone only. Our first bus depart daily at 2.45pm and returns for our second bus @ 3.15pm (approx).
We ask that all whānau continue to regularly keep the office updated with the latest information for their child/ren regarding buses. Parents are required to sign their child off the bus if they pick them up or if they’re attending sport practices, events. The start of each term is a great time to check in with Jacqui or Laraine in the Office regarding your child’s bus arrangements.
We have a well-designed front of the school carpark and drop off area. There is a pick up/drop off (PUDO) at the front of the school. Please ensure you remain with your vehicle at all times; this is so vehicles can move forward as others leave keeping a fluid zone. Parking is available past the PUDO zone for those wishing to visit the classroom or office.
Staggered pick-up: a suggestion for whānau with older students is to come after 3.10pm to reduce the 3.00pm congestion as this helps us to provide a safer alternative that would eliminate the congestion.
In case of an emergency and for our Health and Safety reasons we need to know who is on the school grounds. We, therefore, ask that you use the tablet at the school reception desk to sign in and out.
Reasons you need to use the tablet:
Child/ren are late. Sign in.
Child/ren are leaving school for an appointment or because they are sick during school time. Sign out.
Parent/friend/family member is helping during school hours or attending a class event. Sign in and out.
Child/ren returning from an appointment. Sign in.
