If a counselor determines a student:
-is in danger of hurting themselves
-is in danger of hurting someone else
-is being hurt by another individual
..they have a legal and professional obligation to report that information to the proper authorities to ensure the safety of all.

The mission of Penn Yan Middle School's Pupil Personnel Services is to provide all students the opportunity to acquire the skills, knowledge, and attitudes needed to become successful citizens and life long learners. We believe that all students can learn and are dedicated to facilitating a student's academic, career, and personal/social development.
The PPS philosophy at PYMS is to get to know students and their needs as early as possible in the school year. Students receive assistance from their counselors in a number of ways such as: personal educational needs, program planning, scheduling, career planning, standardized test interpretation, and social/emotional development.
Students and parents/guardians with any questions and/or concerns should feel free to contact the Main Office.
