We attended the European Lunar Symposium 2025😀
Abdallah Alajrami and Kamil Górniak took part in the European Lunar Symposium 2025, held in late June in Münster, Germany. It was their first conference and a completely new experience! Abdallah presented the work titled "Stability Assessment of Mare Tranquillitatis Pit’s Slopes", authored by Abdallah Alajrami, Marcin Chwała, and Kamil Górniak. In the photo: Abdallah during his presentation😁 (Jul. 2025)
Research stay at Universidad Técnica Federico Santa María in Chile!
These were an incredible three weeks in Valparaíso! During my stay, we worked on the approach to Bayesian analysis of lava tube collapse and other related subjects. A huge thank you to my hosts, Danko Jerez and Hector Jensen, for their warm hospitality!
This wouldn’t have been possible without the support of NCN Poland! (Apr. 2025)
Lecture for students and staff of Universidad Técnica Federico Santa María in Chile!
Many thanks to Danko Jerez and Hector Jensen for the invitation to give a lecture on lunar collapse pits, assessing their stability, and the role of civil engineering in the emerging space industry. It was an amazing experience to give a lecture with the Pacific Ocean in the background! (Mar. 2025)
LPSC 2025 😀
It was a great pleasure and privilege to participate once again in LPSC. It was wonderful to see familiar faces (picture) and meet many new people working on topics related to lava tubes! Here is the link to our poster, created by Marcin Chwała, Kamil Górniak, Goro Komatsu, and Junichi Haruyama. (Mar. 2025)
Our Results Will Be Presented at LPSC 2025!
Our poster will be presented during the session "Artemis and Human Lunar Exploration." We will try to answer the question: How Does Roof Layering Affect Types of Lunar Lava Tube Collapses?🌖 Here is the link to the session and the full version of the extended abstract. We were supported in our work by Prof. Goro Komatsu and Dr. Junichi Haruyama. (Feb. 2025)
Three Months of Progress and New Challenges Ahead!
We’ve had over three months of intensive work behind us😄 Almost all of us have already had the chance to present partial results during internal seminars. Our team has grown with the addition of Abdallah and Hubert, and the main goals are still ahead of us! (Feb. 2025)
Our Journey Begins in the PROMISE Project!
With great enthusiasm and strong motivation, we are kicking off a fascinating scientific journey in the PROMISE project! Currently, the team consists of (from left to right): Marcin (PI), and members: Kamil, Patrycja, and Mariusz. (Nov. 2024)
Probabilistic Limit Analysis for Collapse Reconstruction and Stability Assessment of Lunar Lava Tubes (PROMISE) received funding from the National Science Center, Poland under the SONATA 19 call, as announced by NCN on May 24, 2024. It was ranked third among the ST10 panel! This wouldn't have been possible without the support of many people. We will soon be sharing new information and updates! (Oct. 2024)
