Language Arts:

Offline:

  • Read with a friend or family member for 15 minutes a day

  • Read independently for 30 minutes

  • Create a story/poem

  • Keep a home journal of how you spent your day compared to how you would normally be spending your day at school

  • Write an explanation on how to do something. Give it to a family or friend and see how long it takes them to do it.

  • Pick your favorite paragraph of a story and translate it for a friend or family member

  • Retell a funny/embarrassing story to a friend or family member


Online:

  • SBAC Practice Test: Click on the green sign in button at the bottom of the page, then select your grade level, then select the test that you would like to take

  • Common Lit: Free collection of fiction and nonfiction passages for 3rd-12th grade students. Students can create a free account and filter the collection by grade and genre.

  • NWEA MAP: Students can try Practice Tests and watch videos to become familiar with MAP Growth tests.

  • Pearson Easy Bridge: Students can log in through their Google Drive and access the current Unit and texts that they are reading as well as other resources

  • No Red Ink: Builds stronger writers through interest-based curriculum, adaptive exercises, and actionable data.

Double or halve the recipe

  • Measure, count, record.

How many jumping jacks in one minute, at that rate, how many jumping jacks in one hour, in one day, in one year?

  • Calculate discounts using sales or coupons.

Calculate the final price when something is on sale AND you have a coupon.

  • Calculate the total bill when eating out, including tax and tip.

  • Calculate volume and surface area to everyday materials found in the pantry.

  • Calculate how much paint you would need to buy to paint the rooms in your house.
