The mission of Extended Learning Programs is to inspire lifelong learners for success in a changing world. In collaboration with families and the community, we provide a safe, caring, and supportive learning environment. We challenge and empower our multidimensional students to develop academic, social, and emotional skills that prepare them to reach their potential in college, career, and life.

General Information

The MacQuiddy After School Program begins when the bell rings at the end of regular school. Dismissal is at 4:45pm Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. On Wednesdays, dismissal is at 4pm. MacQuiddy ASP office hours are from 1pm to 6pm every day.

To apply to participate in the After School Program, pick up an application in the front office or ask for one from your child's teacher. When we receive the completed application, we will call to let you know when your child can start.

STUDENTS SHOULD NOT STAY FOR ASP UNTIL PARENTS RECEIVE A CALL HOME LETTING THEM KNOW THAT THEIR CHILD IS CLEAR TO BEGIN ATTENDING.

Enrichment

MacQuiddy ASP students participate in the El Systema music program. We also have drumming, science workshop, dance, and Watsonville Wetlands Watch classes.

Homework

On most days, students have a 50 minute homework session. We make every effort to assist students with their homework during that time, but we cannot guarantee that students will complete their homework every day.

Picking Up Students Early • Excusing Absences

To pick up a student early from the After School Program, park in the back parking lot ( at the end of Dolores Ave.) and come to the ASP office in room 4C. There is a sign out sheet outside the room. Jessica will call for your student to meet you at the office.

Students can be picked up early up to 4:30 on M, T, Th, F and up to 3:45 on W. We are not able to pull students individually for the last 15 minutes of program as all students are cleaning up, gathering their things, and lining up during that time.

NO PARENTS ARE ALLOWED ON CAMPUS PAST THE ASP OFFICE DUE TO COVID PROTOCOLS.

If your student will be absent from the After School Program, please call us to let us know or send a note with your child. Students are expected to attend the program DAILY. If they have many unexcused absences, we will call you to discuss dropping the student from the program. If your student participates in another activity, such as sports, just let us know. That will not count as an absence as long as you communicate with us.
