Welcome to another magical and exciting new school year! I am so very happy to be a part of the SRTMS Family. This will be my 27th year at Santa Rosa Technology Magnet School! I have worked in the Pleasant Valley School District my entire teaching career in both the primary and upper grades. Having started at Santa Rosa as a 4th grade teacher, my passion is working with 3rd graders and getting them ready for the challenges of 4th grade.
I earned my BA Degree in liberal studies, hold a Clear California Teaching Credential, and a Clad Credential from Cal-State Northridge, and I am a certified GATE teacher. I have also served as a PVSD Teacher Leader in the Arts, and have an extensive background in theater and music - yes, your children will be singing, dancing, and acting this year!
My husband, Tom, and I live in Thousand Oaks with our three furry children - aka the kitty crew - all rescues. Your children will be hearing many kitty stories this year. I spend most of my free time riding my Friesian Sporthorse, Dia , (Barn Therapy), going to horse shows, Pilates, weekend bike rides, reading, and traveling with my wonderfully patient husband.
I am looking forward to the many new and exciting learning opportunities I will be sharing with my students. Parents play a major role in helping children reach their maximum potential. Research in the area of child development points out that most of a child's intellectual development takes place outside the formal classroom. This means that children spend a great deal of time with their first and most important teachers - their parents. Indeed, as parents, your involvement in your child's learning experiences will have much to do with how well your child succeeds in school and later in life. By working together, I believe we can both help your child become the best person possible - socially, emotionally, and academically.
