Welcome to Mrs. Birdsong's
Fourth Grade Class!
Hello!
We are going to have a very busy and exciting year! This year we will be using online collaborative learning communities within Google Apps for Education, which includes Classroom, Slides, Docs, Forms, and Gmail. Additionally, students will be using ClassLink to access IXL, Zearn, Studies Weekly, Amplify Science and BrainPop, just to name a few. These educational sites support common core standards and concepts taught. Through these applications we are also learning the important 21st Century skills of communication, collaboration, critical thinking, and creativity. In the classroom, an emphasis will be placed on quality versus quantity of work. This will allow for deeper, more meaningful connections to content standards and lesson objectives.
Please check my links for any important information. After the first week of school, you will start receiving a weekly newsletter and agenda by email. If you have any questions or concerns, my email is kbirdsong@pleasantvalleysd.org

About Mrs. Birdsong~
Currently, I live in Newbury Park with my husband and two children. My oldest son is a graduate of Newbury Park High School and attends Moorpark Community College. My younger son was recently promoted from 8th grade here at SRMTS and attends NPHS. Spending time with my family, watching my sons play various sports, reading, traveling, and exercising are some of my favorite things to do! I earned my teaching credential and masters through Azusa Pacific University after graduating from Arizona State. I completed my student teaching here at SRTMS and even attended the school myself as a 5th and 6th grader! I have been a substitute teacher on and off since 2002 in both Pleasant Valley & Conejo Valley School District. During that time, I held four long-term substitute positions for 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade. This will be my eleventh year teaching full time and I am very fortunate to be working at such a great school!
