Dear Kindergarten Families,

This school year, we are using the University of Florida Literacy Institute (UFLI) Foundations Program, which is an explicit and systematic instructional approach to teaching foundational reading skills, including phonemic awareness, letter-sound correspondences, decoding (reading) and encoding (spelling), irregular words (heart words), and reading connected text. Heart words are words students are working to memorize or know by heart. Please continue practicing these words daily.

Below is a list of the irregular (heart) words your child will learn throughout the year. As they are introduced, the words will be added to the front cover of the homework. We appreciate your continued support.
