Homework is generally assigned every day, Monday-Thursday. Students are expected to be reading 20 minutes or more every day, but we do not require it to be logged at this time. If your student needs help finding reading material at their independent level, please have them ask their teacher. Students are encouraged to read both fiction (novels and stories) and non-fiction (news, science or history articles, how-to or recipe articles, etc.)
Assigned homework will generally include the practice pages for the day's math lesson and/or practice of a writing or reading strategy. Homework is designed to be a review or practice of previously learned material. The typical student should be able to complete homework in approximately 30-40 minutes when focused on the work. Students should have the assignment written in their agenda book, as they are given time and reminders to do so each morning. You can check the list here if they forgot, but this list is posted weekly and may change to reflect unexpected classroom and student needs.
